5.12 Children from Abroad (including Migrant Children and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children
SCOPE OF THIS CHAPTER
There are five guidance documents relating to safeguarding issues faced by Children from Abroad. These are:
- Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children;
- Unaccompanied Migrant Children and Child Victims of Trafficking and Modern Slavery;
- No Recourse to Public Funds;
- Immigration Overview;
- Immigration guidance for Children's Services.
These documents have been written and developed by Children’s Social Care as lead partner for protecting these children. The original guidance documents sit on Norfolk Children’s Services website.
Non-statutory guidance has also been published entitled Working with Foreign Authorities: Child Protection Cases and Care Order Departmental advice for local authorities, social workers, service managers and children’s services lawyers (July 2014).
